we ❤ textiles

as you probably already know, we love handmade things! we love the idea that someone carefully put their time into creating a unique piece that you can't buy just anywhere. it is so important to support these independent artists, because they fill our world with pretty things. not only do we love things handmade, but we also adore the use of textiles in art. here is some of our favorite textile art, both in the shop and out.
one of my new obsessions in the shop is shibang designs. robyn stephens creates what she calls "a form of wearable art" through the process of dying fleece, then felting and embellishing it with other colors of yarn and tulle. her collection of handbags, coin purses, iphone cases, and more, are so worth drooling over.
another one of my all time favorite textile artists is angie consalvo. she layers, sews, paints and collages to create a final piece. fiber is combined from every source and blended with paper that may be hand painted, hand dyed, torn from a book or simply not wanted, to create beautiful pieces of art for a wall, shelf, or desk.
100% linen, flower pillow cover is hand embroidered in europe. find it here on etsy
i am so loving this one of a kind messenger bag from urban gypsy. she uses upcycled felt, leather, and handmade floral appliques to create this beauty. and, the artist is the sister of one of our favorite papaya artists kathleen rossi
