($35 value) we will also give you a FREE GIFT with any purchase over $20!

tell us a little about yourself…

my name is lesley karasinski and i am the designer behind gemonie jewelry. i grew up in the north-east coast of england but have lived here in the US for the last ten years. i moved to barrington with my family four years ago and work out of my home studio.

why did you decide to become an artist?

there has never been a time when i didn’t want to create. growing up, i was lucky to be part of a very creative family, one who believed that something handmade came straight from the heart. i was encouraged to explore many artistic avenues, everything from painting to sewing. i fell in love with designing jewelry when i wanted to make unique pieces for myself and friends.

how has your jewelry changed or developed over time?

my designs have definitely developed over time and are always evolving. creativity is very much a journey, there are always new techniques to learn and perfect, which influence the direction of my work.

what inspires you?

i draw inspiration from everywhere and everything! from nature and the changing of seasons, to fashion and art. i also find the materials i use in my work very inspirational themselves. just playing around with different gemstones and beads usually creates a flurry of ideas and endless possibilities!

do you have a quote you live by?

“follow your heart” – in everything you do.

three things you couldn’t live without…

my children’s smiles….. all three of them!
alternatively, my camera, music and a good book.

lesley was kind enough to share some photos of her beautiful studio as well!
don't forget to stop by to enter to win a pair of earrings, and receive your free gift with purchase of $20 or more!

spring planters

as you already know, i've been determined to get the spring planters for the front of the shop done, but i haven't really had the chance because i needed decent weather to spray paint. well, this past saturday turned out to be a gorgeous day (minus the wind - which equaled spray paint in my hair and all over my sunglasses). so i popped in my ipod and took a few hours to prime, paint, and seal some stone looking pots. and of course i painted them in one of my favorite colors - HOT PINK! once dried, i planted some pretty purple and yellow flowers! take a look...
i love the purple flowers! they remind me of tie-dye.
i have another project in the works for the side windows - stay tuned.

inspired gardens

with the warm weather (er, warmer weather?) approaching, it is time to start thinking about sprucing up your garden. for me, this involves creating an outdoor atmosphere outside of the shop that reflects the inside of the shop. after our florescent pink christmas tress i displayed this past holiday season, i sure wanted to do something just as outrageous for the spring and summer months. so i started my research... here are some pictures of what i found...
i think i have an idea of what i am going to create. and it involves my favorite medium, spray paint! now all i need is a day over 50 with no rain, and i can start working on it!

hello hanna wishing tree

one of my most favorite blogs to read is hostess with the mostess. i swear one day i am going to be a professional party planner, but for now i just do it for fun.

just a few days ago, they shared a post of a darling vintage easter brunch (that includes some adorable free printables!) they used the hello hanna wishing tree (available in the shop!) for their centerpiece
the wishing tree is $42.50 and includes the paper tree and base, 40 ready-to-hang wishing ribbons & display, and 20 pink flowers with removable sticky dots! you can also purchase other colored flowers or birds to match your occasion. it is perfect for weddings, showers, anniversaries, birthdays, a place to keep special wishes for yourself, or in this case easter!

margot elena

i stumbled upon this cool interview with designer margot elena, who is the mastermind behind our favorite cult beauty brand lollia, which is of course bath and body products in gorgeous, ultra-feminine packaging (available at angelina).

she is also the creator of tokyo milk, love & toast (previously available in the shop), and nectar+pollen to be launching soon. cool fact to know about her: she owned her first nationally distributed fragrance line before the age of 25! what an inspiration!

lollia items make the most perfect mother's day gifts! (mother's day is may 8th, so come in soon before they're all gone!) just a few of our favorites...

relax bubble bath - a rich exotic blend of lavender, bee blossom honey with white orchids and warm, woody undertones of indian amber delicately completed with a touch of tahitian vanilla. tiny, luxurious bubbles chatter in the tub as avocado and olive fruit oil tickle the nose. rich vitamin e silkens skin.
imagine bath salts - flowering willow & lotus float in, then flutter away. a trace of orchid on their wings. breezy rice flower and warm coconut milk mix with dew drop notes of mandarin & jasmine petals. drop a spoonful into any bath to create instant luxury and lasting relaxation.
cotton and clover tall perfumed candle - light, fresh top notes of apple blossom and island orchid lighten the atmosphere. this candle is the perfect partner for wineglass in hand, dancing barefoot to nora jones evenings. demure and contemplative when alone, utterly romantic with someone you adore.
